Over the past few year, Florida bed bug dog companies have been talked about in the news and though most of it is positive, there are some negatives that customers need to be made aware of. In this article we are going to talk about the difference of using an Independent company vs one that is associated with an extermination company.

These days, the Extermination companies who had working dogs have now created separate companies for the dog to give the impression that they are “Independent”, thus trying to fool or trick the customer into thinking that the dog company they have hired has no ulterior motive to find or not find bed bugs. So how does a consumer protect themselves from this trickery? Do your research! Here’s how… First you need to know that even though a dog is comping to inspect your place, the company needs to be licensed under a CPO (Certified Pest Control Operator) and hold a license with the State of Florida’s department of Entomology. Also, the dog handler must also have an ID card with its company name on it. You can always ask to see the ID card upon inspection and if the dog handler does not have one then you know you are working with a fake or illegal company.

We did our research for South Florida and found that K9 P.I. Inc is the ONLY company in South Florida who is truly 100% independent and also licensed with the State of Florida’s Department of Entomology. Every other company we looked into is either associated with a pest control extermination company or is working illegally in the State of Florida. What does this mean for you? It means that K9 P.I. will provide you with a fair and honest inspection because K9 P.I. clearly has no ulterior motive to find bed bugs as they DO NOT suggest nor refer pest control extermination companies to their customers.

For more information on K9 P.I. please visit their website at www.thek9pi.com

Yet another reason why contracting K9 P.I.’s bed bug scent detection dog for all your bed bug inspections is crucial. It seems that you not only have to worry about the bed bug infestation itself, but now have to worry about the chemicals that go along with getting rid of the little blood suckers as well.
Research done by a government agency has claimed 1 death and 80 illnesses that have been linked to the application of bed bug insecticides during the past 3 years. Although many of the cases were from people doing Do-It-Yourself pest control by over applying the chemicals or using wrong chemicals entirely.
This study, released over a week ago from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention has been the first agency to look into these issues. The CDC was only able to collect data from 7 states and Dr. Geoff Calvert, a DCD investigator has said the following..”At this point, its not a major health problem.
The lessons learned here at to let the chemical application be handled by a professional. And before a bed bug infestation even begins to develop, call in K9 P.I.’s Bed bug detection team so you can determine if a problem even exists. You can find K9 P.I. on the web by going to www.thek9pi.com.

Warning…There are a lot of South Florida bed bug dog scams popping up daily. Two of the most common are the Pest Control Company that opens up a separate bed bug canine business, and here’s how its bad. If the canine has an alert, they refer the customers to their Pest Control company for treatment. Customers have no idea that the two companies are actually one. These companies can’t be trusted because they have a hidden agenda.

The second scam are from companies who just pop up from nowhere and charge a very minimal amount to get serviced. The consumer thinks they are getting a deal of a lifetime but in fact the dog that is doing the inspection has no credibility. More than likely it has been trained in someones back yard and isn’t accurate at all.

When looking for a good bed bug dog detection company you really want to do your research. Look at their web site. Look for a certification that is 3rd party. NESDCA is the best certification company for bed bug dogs nationwide. You should also be able to look at the website of the certifying agent (NESDCA.COM) to see the status of the dog team and handler to make sure they are legit.

Companies like K9 P.I. Inc (www.thek9pi.com) strive to be the best for all their consumers. We are 100% completely 3rd party to any pest control company. We also do not refer to any pest control company as well. Our goal is to make you feel like you are getting the best possible inspection without fear that you are being taken advantage of, unlike some of our other South Florida Canine competitors.

Between Miami, Palm Beach, and Orlando Florida Bed Bug Infestations are on the rise and our bed bug sniffing dog Angel is working hard. Does it have something to do with the climate? Perhaps, but not likely. Or maybe it does, but just indirectly. Summer is the time of year that most families travel, bouncing around from hotel to hotel thus being the time of year that bed bug cases in homes are on the rise. It doesn’t particularly mean that bed bugs come out just during the summer months, it just means that bed bugs get picked up the most during summer months and brought back into the homes of unsuspecting people.
In all reality, its been our experience that bed bugs don’t like excessive heat and will move away from it if at all possible. Its also been tested by us that bed bugs seem to reproduce faster in cooler climates. The point we are trying to make is that bed bugs really don’t have a season. They are here in the summer as well as winter months. Consumers just hear less a bout them because people tend to travel less in winter months with makes it harder for the bugs to find new homes.

K9 P.I. releases this information for public awareness. A new report just got released that it may actually be possible for bed bugs carry a superbug. “Canadian scientists detected drug-resistant staph bacteria in bedbugs from three hospital patients from a Vancouver neighborhood.” Five bed bugs were squashed and inspected. MRSA was in fact found on three of the bugs. MRSA is resistant to several types of common antibiotics and can become deadly if it gets through the skin and into the bloodstream. Also, there were two bedbugs that had VRE, a less dangerous form of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Both germs are often seen in hospitals.

The study on this has just begun and its in the very early stages. A lot of key questions have not been answered. One that should concern everybody is whether the bacteria is transmitted from humans to the bugs or the worst case scenario, the bugs to humans. Another key question would be if the bacteria is on the outside of the bed bugs or if its living and growing on the inside of the bugs, which would suggest the possibility of biological transmission, researchers said. Researchers are saying that if this superbug was to enter the bloodstream it could be deadly.

As if Hotels and Hospitals had enough to worry about, this news will sure have a huge impact on how they approach bed bug problems. This is a perfect example of why K9 P.I’s Bed Bug Dogs could be put to good use. Our dogs find infestations before they become problematic. Our dogs also are able to alert on the odor of just one bug or just one bed bug viable egg.
